One value added service provided by Cobbs Allen that is relatively uncommon in our field is the benefit of having an Industrial Hygienist, Chris Haynes, on our team.


The Medicare Annual Election Period has arrived! From October 15th – December 7th, Medicare-eligibles have the opportunity to change their healthcare and prescription drug coverages. We have partnered with SelectQuote Benefit Solutions who can help in evaluating your healthcare options. 


For this year’s ESOP Awareness Service Project, Cobbs Allen employees and our friends at Ameritas, Chubb, Delta Dental, Guardian, MetLife, Travelers, Dr. George Matthews, III DDS, Dr. John Philips, DMD, and Dr. Mark Todd, DMD, MS of PT Orthodontics collected over 1500 items, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, bath soaps, shampoos, conditioners, notepads, pens, and children’s books, to donate to the Children’s of Alabama Care Closet. The donations contributed to the making of 90 New Admission Family Kits, which are distributed to families that come to the hospital in crisis in both the NICU and PICU critical care units. Emergencies can happen at any moment and it is often impossible to be prepared. The Care Closet helps prepare for those times when you sprint out of your house in a t-shirt and flip-flops without any toiletries to hold you over until you have a chance to return home.

Are You an Insurance Shopaholic?

Ah, the dreaded months leading up to your insurance renewal. Phone call after phone call from brokers wanting to supply you quotes-- each claiming that they have the best company and the best rates, promising that they will save you the most money. We are bombarded with phrases like, “We have an insurance carrier with the best rates in the market.” We start seeing money signs and envisioning our wallets to be a little thicker. We complete the “shopping” process and pat ourselves on the back. But did we shop smart? Did we receive the coverage we needed?

Over the past few months, Cobbs Allen has integrated the use of standing desks for a number of our associates who had expressed interest in the product. Word spread when a couple of associates started using standing desks independently. Scott Smith, Senior Vice President and Consultant in Employee Benefits, brought in his own stranding desk when he first joined Cobbs Allen.
