Promoting From Within

In risk management, it might seem counterintuitive to seek out change. However, when it comes to striving for innovation both in services and in leadership, maintaining status quo should never be enough.

Just like fresh legs help win a race, fresh ideas help win an industry. With that mentality, Cobbs Allen is excited to be promoting from within while continuing to harness the wisdom of insurance veterans who have helped keep the company out front for decades.

At the beginning of the new year, the company announced a number of promotions that have strengthened day-to-day operations while also making room for planning future growth of the company. Grantland Rice III, who has serviced as president of the firm since 1992, has been named chief executive officer. Rice III, who was instrumental in putting together the ownership group, has worked closely with all departments, allowing him to understand daily operations and overall direction.

Outgoing CEO Bruce Denson Sr. will remain with the company as Chairman of the Board for CAH Holdings Inc., the parent company of Cobbs Allen. Denson Sr., a 40-year veteran of the industry, will focus on planning strategic initiatives for the firm, including ongoing client strategy and increased firm growth.

“Grantland has worked closely with all departments, and through his leadership this group has accomplished substantial growth and has implemented an array of client services that have been a differentiator for Cobbs Allen in the insurance industry,” Denson Sr. said.

In addition, Bruce Denson, Jr. has been promoted to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer. Denson Jr., who has been with Cobbs Allen since 2004, has spent the past several years on the company’s leadership team focused on strategic planning for Cobbs Allen. In addition Denson Jr. will continue to serve as managing director of OutFront Financial, a subsidiary of CAH Holdings Inc., focused on insured financial products.

"I'm excited about the strategic direction of our company and expanding our innovative risk management approach to a national platform. Grantland and I have collaborated successfully on so many projects together over the years and share a vision for how to continue to grow Cobbs Allen,” Denson Jr. said.
